I'm willing to give one of the novel's a chance just to see what Jakes does long-form.

I read the first Thongor book and felt like I was being punished for some crime I didn't even know I'd committed. I'm planning to read them from a strictly archaeological perspective.

The short stories collected in YOUNG THONGOR were definitely a different thing and I really liked them. Surprisingly, Robert Price, a truly talented mimic and pasticheur, couldn't match Carter's own wide-eyed enthusiasm in his contributions to the book.

I bought a Kothar and a Kyrick book but i haven't been able to get past a page or tow in either one.The Wasphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08636805818054637966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008217764991774516.post-26100890825227786792014-10-29T21:14:42.239-04:002014-10-29T21:14:42.239-04:00I liked, but didn't love, Brak. I sold them off once, then ended up picking them back up… and yet they're still unread.

Of all the Conan-inspired barbarians, I think my favorite was probably Thongor, in short story form at least. The Thongor novels had a different feel.

At one time I contemplated a complete Kothar read through, but they're so preposterous it's hard to make it through one book let alone several in a row...Howard Andrew Joneshttp://www.howardandrewjones.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008217764991774516.post-15950699848520632602014-10-28T23:59:55.663-04:002014-10-28T23:59:55.663-04:00It's gotten some pretty bad reviews. I've heard younger versions of some of the characters in the original Quartet, such as Dudley Smith, will be there. I'm toying with picking it up.Adventuresfantastichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16907562789681407416noreply@blogger.com
